creating multi faceted community spaces for the common good
Richmond Hill United
Richmond Hill United Church is at the centre of the town of Richmond Hill, just north of Toronto. It has been active there for 200 years and its current location since 1881.
The congregation has ample space to pursue their mission of social justice, working on poverty reduction initiatives, breakfast and backpack programs for schools and Out of the Cold.
They wish to expand their building usage and so are inviting the community to consultations to reimagine the place of the congregation and its building in the broader community.
We undertook a series of interviews and assessments and a community consultation seeking for like minded partners. The community consultation was a record, with 95% of those invited attending! Clearly Richmond Hill United is considered to be at the heart of its community and people are attracted to it. I look forward to seeing what the congregation and community do next.
